Introducing artist Amanda Carpenter

Painting by Amanda Carpenter

We All Love Flowers

We All Love Flowers moves beyond the idea of the floral as decoration. While rooted in my love of painting flowers, the series seeks depth over prettiness, using layered surfaces and intuitive mark-making to reflect a life shaped by rupture and renewal. These works embrace damage, complexity, and non-conformity, revealing beauty that is earned rather than idealized. The paintings hold space for transformation, where fragility and resilience coexist, and where growth is messy, layered, and deeply human.

Bio

From the artist.

Having completed a BA in Ceramics over 20 years ago, life circumstances meant I wasn’t able to continue pursuing my love of creativity at that time. After running my established health and beauty business for the past decade, I am finally in a position to reduce my hours and focus on what I love doing most. I am also qualified in permanent makeup, which has kept my drawing skills refined and my hand‑eye coordination sharp. Although I had never painted before, I felt a strong calling to pick up a brush in October 2025, and I haven’t looked back since. Painting quickly became an essential part of my life, and the response to my early work encouraged me to keep going. When my first few pieces were accepted into The Canvas Gallery in Plymouth, it was a pivotal moment that confirmed I needed to continue producing work and developing my ideas. This renewed creative path feels long overdue, and I am now committed to building a sustainable artistic practice and taking every opportunity to grow, exhibit and share my work.
