Introducing abstract painter Martin Bush

Bio

Martin’s journey spans over three decades, rooted in a deep love for the abstract. From 2004 to 2020, he was artist in residence at Plymouth’s Royal William Yard, where his large-scale canvases and open studio became a vibrant part of the local art scene. Though now based in Plymouth, Martin’s creative path has taken him across several UK counties. In earlier years, he was known for his commercial work in bars, restaurants, and even catering spaces in colleges and industrial kitchens—places where his flair for creating inviting, memorable art laid the foundation for his current practice. Self-employed as an artist for more than 30 years, Martin has always pushed the boundaries of what that means. Now at 60, he reflects on the journey so far and hopes to find another 30 years to keep painting, evolving, and sharing his work with those who love it.
