Introducing artist Nigel Austin
Bio
Nigel is a self taught artist working primarily with oil paint and charcoal from his home studio. For many years he has enjoyed creating portrait pieces by commission. However his true passion is original art. Pairing his life long love of drawing and painting alongside his mental health struggles he has created two significant bodies of work. The Diary of a Broken Man and The Man Behind the Mask documents a difficult period in his life. Using vibrant colours and bold brush strokes the 19 paintings allowed him to understand and observe his own suffering and begin his journey towards peace. His new work incorporates his unique style to paint landscapes from his home city of Plymouth that push the boundaries between realism and abstract.
